Market Minute - May 2020

Last month's home sales were WAY down compared to April 2019. The last couple of months have been challenging for sellers but baring another widespread outbreak, the Sunshine Coast real estate market may be turning a corner.

Two big things that put people off moving to the Sunshine Coast are no longer major factors. Would-be buyers that loathed the idea of commuting using the ferry have discovered that working remotely is a viable alternative.

Second, our collective quarantine has conditioned us to shop online. Thanks to Amazon, fears that the Sunshine Coast has fewer shopping options than the city is now a non-issue.

Over the next two to four years, I won't be shocked if these changes - along with the obvious benefits of living here - result in our median house price surpassing that of Chilliwack.

In addition to a lifestyle that appeals to retirees and families looking to escape the city, investors may find higher than expected ROI should they opt to buy on BC's beautiful Sunshine Coast.
